About Me

My photo
Goddard, KS, United States
I am one of the fortunate few who married my very bestfriend! Brett and I started dating when I was a sophmore in highschool, and have been together ever since! So I don't know life without Brett in it, and I wouldn't want to. He has given me so many wonderful things over our 14 years together. However the most precious are our children. I am making this blog for them. One day hopefully they will be able to get some of the joy back they have given to me by reading this!

The Longest Post Ever

This may be the longest post EVER!! But our Sunday was so much fun I didn't want to cut anything!
**~Church, Time of worship and Remembering, Water gun Fight, Family, Friends, Food, Frisbee~**
After church and lunch today it was TOO BEAUTIFUL to stay inside.. So we went out for a water gun fight! **
Curtis Vs. Daddy**
Curtis saw that he was no match and decided to run and hide behind Cadence

Pretty smart, although Cadence did NOT care to be wet =)

Curtis was SOAKED =)

But Brett wasn't dry by any means.. Curtis was able to get in a few good shots

This would be one of them =)

Then it was over to my Grandma Winsor's house for our annual Cook-Out
Trey, Brett, Brett and my Dad moved over an extra picnic table (that makes 4 and there still weren't enough =))

LOVE ALL THE KIDS =) Curtis is so blessed with Cousins!

My Grandpa Winsor on the far left (where Curtis got his middle name, well that and my Dad)
and my Uncle Jerry (in the front)

Me and my In-Laws
Finally ULTIMATE FRISBEE TIME =) We **LOVE**LOVE** this game.. I'm the green blob in the back =)

Now I'm the bright green blob in the middle... 5 from the left.. Kelly's camera doesn't do motion very well =) But thanks for the pictures!
**
Love Cook-Outs at My Grandpa and Grandma Winsors.. All that was missing was my Grandpa Peeka (Coslett) He LOVED my Grandma Winsor's home made Cherry-nut Ice cream!!

A Pretty Good Start!

We have had a pretty good start to our Memorial Day weekend. We decided to go to Resthaven on Friday and try to beat the crowds of people. My awesome little helpers... Curtis can remember my Grandpa a little bit. He mostly remembers his "Walking Sticks" =) I am trying to make sure those memories don't fade, however I am sure in time they may.
Prior to loosing my loosing my Grandpa my Mom used to say she dreaded the Memorial Day weekend because she hated seeing her Mother cry. That they would go out and visit the grave sites as a family and her mother would be sad. Today I saw a little bit of that heavy heart you feel when your parent is hurting. However I would say we had a very nice visit.
I forget how much I miss him until I've been there!

Curtis, Cadence and Grandma Carol sitting in the shade =) (exactly where my Grandpa would have been)

I made this last year.. The picture has faired pretty well for being in my storage room or a year. Although next year I will print a new one.

You can tell from the road which one is Grandpa =) A man loved that much deserves nothing less!

Saturday: Day Two - Today we met my Grandma at Resthaven and then we went over to White Chapel where her parents are. We also visited my Grandpa Coslett's parents in a small cemetery off of 13th and Maize (or was it Tyler). The kids know that when we go to Resthaven it's to remember and talk about Grandpa Peeka (Coslett) but when we pulled into white chapel Lucas wanted to know what we were doing there? Curtis informed him that all of the flowers were people who lived with God now, and that we come to make the angels smile. I have no clue where he came up with that, but no more explanation was needed.
**
After that Kristin and her family where headed to Emporia to meet the Rohlman's, and they invited Curtis to go up with them. (And come back with my parents the same day) My initial response was NO, but I quickly remembered what two very special ladies told me (I CAN truest God with my Babies) So I kissed him Good-Bye and told him to have fun.... Brett and Cadie had some Daddy-Daughter time by fixing the mower, while I went for a run... I ran 4.54 miles (to 199th, to central, t0 15, to maple and back home.) (also if reading between the lines I ran, walk, ran, walk, ran, walk) and it took me 68.35 min..Sad Yes but where I lack in ability I make up in persistence =)
Then Cadie and I finished mowing so Brett could work on the yard... Then baths and Bed (Brett waited up for Curtis) Overall a Great start to our weekend.. but it is going by quickly!!

She Loves Him...

**This time I'm NOT talking about Curtis**

Yes!! That is MY Daughter kissing the lizard's cage!!
Cadence is obsessed with Iggy
Yes, that would also be MY Daughter's *Spit* on the cage
**
She holds him Way more than Curtis does. We are really
working on trying to get her to NOT squeeze and just hold!
**
I say "we" but we all know I mean Brett (I've never even touched him)
Do you see that? She is signing MORE!
**
Okay Iggy will crawl up Brett and Curt's shirt and onto their shoulders. So
last night Brett asked Cadie if she wanted Iggy on her tummy?
What does she do?
**
OH Yes She hikes up her shirt for Iggy to go on her Tummy!!
Whose Child is This?? I mean Seriously!!

Meet Denmark!

All Week Way FM have been running their sponsor a child marathon, and I hate to admit it but I normally change the station when this type of thing is being aired. I am definitely the type of person who feeds off of others sorrows. However I have really been touched by the stories I have heard this week. I talked to Brett about it, and before I could say anything he had already been listening and we both agreed this was something we wanted to do. With me working part-time we are really tight and trying to stick to a VERY tight budget, but how could I not give up something to help a child (and a Mommy) who really needs it. So I had it all figured out I was going to search for a little girl. Hopefully one who has hair so I could share some of Cadence's things... BUT God had someone else very special in mind for me and my family....
I opened World Vision and there was a small Ten year old Boy who enjoys Sports... The first thing I saw on his profile was his birthday... MARCH 27! So I said Okay God =) a Boy it is!!
Now my Grandma and I have someone else to share our Birthday with!!

Tube Trouble

Friday~Saturday~Sunday and then again today Cadence has woken up with what I would call a significant amount of blood in her right ear. I had to work on Friday, but called home to check on her and my mom said that she was acting alright, other than picking at her right ear. I remember the nurse telling us that some blood was normal. I decided to give it another day and see how they looked. On Sunday I asked Mandy what she thought, and she confirmed that they didn't look good, and that wasn't a "normal" bleeding. On my way to work this morning I put in a call to the ENT nurse and let her know what was going on, and that I was wondering if she should be seen before her scheduled appointment on Friday. They agreed that she should not still have blood, and she should be seen. So I took the afternoon off to take her in. It was not a pleasant trip ;( Come to find out her tubes are completely blocked with blood clots!! After two nurses and Mommy holding her down the ENT was able to get one block out and culture the drainage.. We are now on another kind of ear drops and we will go back in a week to have her tubes rechecked. Unless I see ANY more bright red blood then I should call and have her seen that day. When we go back in a week he will have to decide then if anything else "surgical" is needing to be done to her ears.
**
It seems like everyone I have talked to about tubes either thought they were great or terrible.. I am hoping that after this one set back we fall under the great category, and that I made the right choice by putting her tubes in!!

*That's my Girl*

Ok I have had two weeks to talk myself into Cadie getting her tubes put in. I am also very aware that I fall under the "over-protecting" Mother category, and I also knew that
her tears would be out of fear and most likely not pain.. However my Mommy-Heart was
really dreading this morning. I have earnestly prayed for this morning for the past month.
First of all prayed for her safety and a quick and safe procedure..
Secondly (and honestly probably the longest) would be that she would go back with the nurses
without (or at least minimal) tears. Once again I foolishly put my limitless God into a box and was only asking/expecting minimal ears... And once again God showed me just how Great He Is..
We woke Cadence up at 5:20 this morning so we could be headed out by 5:30
and arrive for our 6:00 AM scheduled check-in..
(Not the best likeness of Mommy ;p) Cadence looked so stinkin' Cute her
in little gown and ankle braclet with her information on it.
**
The nurse we had was wonderful!! After meeting with the anesthesiologist and the doctor it was time for the nurses to take Cadie back. One nurse asked Cadie if she wanted to go Bye-Bye
with her and Cadie shook her head NO!! We laughed and while handing Cadie to the
nurses I was telling her Bye and that I loved her.. She let me hand her off without
any fight... Just as the nurse was telling her to say Bye she began to lunge back
for me, and just that fast the nurses turned around and where off with her.... WITHOUT ONE TEAR!! Brett and I waited in the waiting room for the doctor to come out. He said
everything went Beautifully, and that he drained fluid from both ears before inserting
her tubes. She wasn't awake yet, but someone would come and get us when she was....

When we got back to her a sweet nurse was rocking her and singing =) She handed
Cadence to me and we have pretty much been attached since!!
**
She has really done pretty well today. Fussy, slight fever, and disoriented a little with her
fine motor skills... but over all we had a very food experience with Surgicare and would
recommend them to anyone.

** Her eyes are open but not sure she is really awake**
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for our family!!

*LOVE* being Mommy

There is an endless list of things I have probably been called... However
Mommy has to be one of my Favorites!
I was super bummed when I realized this was the only picture I had taken with my Babies on Mother's Day!
After church we went to Grandma Cindy's for lunch

Then it was back home to make enchiladas for dinner! This is one of Cadie's
favorite things to make and EAT!

Lots of *yummy* desserts! Tony made "Angie's Favorite"
Angie, I can totally understand!!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Then it was time for some much needed "Relaxing"
I think Cadence enjoyed it more then Mommy did!!

She **LOVES** getting her nails painted =)
(and I love doing it)
