About Me

I am one of the fortunate few who married my very bestfriend! Brett and I started dating when I was a sophmore in highschool, and have been together ever since! So I don't know life without Brett in it, and I wouldn't want to. He has given me so many wonderful things over our 14 years together. However the most precious are our children. I am making this blog for them. One day hopefully they will be able to get some of the joy back they have given to me by reading this!

Welcome NEW BABY BOY

Monday,July 23rd my little sister had her baby! Jeremiah Aaron Stukey

Shortly after delivery the pediatrician informed them that they would need to rush him to surgery. They noticed that one of his testicales was being "strangled". After a lot of prayers (and some tears) he was done and did wonderful. However the doctors were unable to save the testicle and had to remove it. He has several stiches down the middle of his scrotum, but is healing well. He had to spend the first 24 hours of his life in a special care unit. He is now in a room with them and will hopefully be coming home today. HE IS TOO CUTE!!

Taken a few hours after surgery, when Kelly and Ben were finally taken to see him!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!

Happy Baby Girl!

Since taking Callie off of breast milk she is a completely different baby! She is now sleeping 3 hours at a time (this is so much better than 20-30 minutes), is awake without screaming and overall just a blessing to our family!!

A good friend of mine gave Callie this rainbow dress! I was pretty excited because Cadence already had one! Thanks Michelle, she wears it often as I love it when my girls match!

Oklahoma Aquarium

We took a "super short" vacation to Oklahoma with Brett’s parents. We met them up there on Thursday and came home Friday, but with a 6 week old this was plenty of time! Smile

We went to the Oklahoma Aquarium. Curt and Cadie really enjoyed this. The adults thought it was pretty neat as well!

There was a sub diver inside one of the tanks cleaning it. Cadence was enthralled with her. She even waved at Cadie several time. Overall it was a nice little trip.

Aunt Kristin

I decided that Aunt Kristin needed her one blog post! Smile My sister has gone above and beyond to help Callie and I. When she wasn’t here bouncing or walking she would often come and take Curt and Cadie to go and play with her kids. One day (when I was almost to hit the wall) she showed up at 10:30 and told me that she was going to take as many of my children as I would give her so I could go and lay down. By this time I needed the sleep. With tears I sent all three of them with her (by this time I was no longer nursing). I went straight up stairs and wake up at 2:00!! DSC_0975DSC_0980

AUNT KRISTIN WE ARE SO THANKFUL FOR YOU!

Nice Girl!

My sweet Cadence has been struggling *REALLY STURGGLING*! The past weeks have been super hard of Callie and her Mommy but also her big sister. I have not joined them for devotions, prayer, bedtimes, bath not much of anything as I have been outside bouncing and bouncing!! Cadie has received a fair amount of discipline over the last few weeks. I decided to try and praise her more. As I feel she is being SO NAUGHTY to get attention, because even a spanking is one on one time from mommy. So far this has been working really well!!! Here’s hoping that we can get a new normal in our home, and everyone back on the right track! (I am sure that we can)

What a Blessing!!

We were truly blessed at our blessing shower from New Foundation!! I wish I had names to personally thank everyone separate. To be honest being things home from the blessing shower is a blur, during this time Callie was still have a very hard time. So I did not help load or unload or put anything away, Brett did all of this. However, we were blessed beyond measure THANK YOU!DSC_0963

Nothing short of a miracle..

Psalm 18:2 "The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower."

Psalm 91:2 "I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust."

Nahum 1:7 "The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."

My has not screamed since 4:00 Thursday, and she has not nursed since 12:00 Thursday afternoon. She has had THREE poopy diapers and her only tears have been coming off of nursing. Dr. Zayat’s office called and Callie does not have pyloric stenosis. Instead she has an allergy to the fat protein that mammals produce, this would include her mother. Sad smile Callie has to be on a special formula and no  more breast feeding. I am actually feeling so much better about this since talking with my sweet cousin this morning, and realize that it is not the end of the world nor am I the first mom to have to stop nursing. I have to take Callie in on Monday for a weight check. If she is gaining weight we do not have to be hospitalized. PRAY PRAY PRAY! As she is still throwing a large amount back up, however much much less and is not screaming from stomach pain any longer!!

LOOK SHE DOES SMILE!!IMAG1670

Update on Callie 7-13-12

THANK YOU for everyone who has taken Callie to the our Father in prayer. I wish you all could see my heart and just how grateful I am, as I do not think that I have ever been more sincerely grateful for prayers on our behalf. More on this in a second...

Yesterday, we took Callie to see Dr. Zayat. I can not say enough wonderful things about her, she was very personable and seemed sincerely concerned about my little girl. When she came in Callie was nursing. She told me to go ahead and finish nursing and she asked us a few questions. Upon requesting to examine Callie I sat her up and she of course threw (projectile) everything up across the room. The doctor was immediately concerned as her vomiting was followed by absolute screaming. I explained that this is what we have been doing all day for the past 5 weeks! She explained that she was concerned that we were looking at pyloric stenosis, and wanted me to take her for an upper GI that day! She stepped out and scheduled us an upper GI at 2:00 that day (11:00 now) at St. Joe. Callie could not nurse or eat anything until after this procedure was over!! Dr.Zayat explained that if this came back to be what was wrong with Callie she would need a simple surgical procedure. She asked me if she passed her newborn meconum right after birth. I told her that she had, which made he feel as though Hirshprungs was NOT what Callie has. (YAY YAY) She said that if the scan back back negative that she wants to hospitalize Callie for a few days to see what is going on. She said that I would have to stop nursing (pump and save it) and that they would insert a tub down Callie’s nose and into her stomach with a constant food drip, and run a few other tests. I asked her what she would be looking for, she told me that she thinks Callie might have a protein allergy to something. I asked her I could keep her at home and stop nursing. She told me yes, but that she would rather hospitalize her because we would get results faster and very few mothers can cold turkey nursing on their own.. especially since I told her Callie doesn’t take a bottle very well!

Kristin and I left the doctors office and went to Babies R Us to find a type of nipple my cousin had told Kristin about Sunday that she had success with her little boy taking. We found this, grabbed some lunch, and headed to St. Joe. I will be honest.. I nursed her about noon because she was screaming so badly. I figured we would  be alright because the nurse said not to feed her because they wanted her to be hungry at 2:00... since she throws EVERYTHING up she is always hungry! Of course when the nurse tried to give Callie a bottle with the berry in it she would not take it! The radiologist told me to try, and all she wanted to do with me was nurse Sad smile I asked if I could have my sister try, and they said that was fine. So Kristin tried, and with a little love and coxing she took it from Kristin!!

I have not heard results from Dr. Zayat (I have even called this morning) HOWEVER I was once hoping that this was the problem because I was hoping to get her some relief and not have to hospitalize her. I decided yesterday to stop nursing and save my milk and see if that made any difference this weekend.I have not nursed Callie since noon yesterday and the SCREAMING HAS STOPPED! She has not screamed and bowed herself backwards in pain since 4:00 yesterday. She is taking that nipple Stacy told us  about beautifully (not so much from me but we will get there), and last night SHE POOPED so much that it was coming out of her dipper. From 3:00 yesterday until Kristin went home last night at 10:00 Callie had taken almost 12 ounces from her. She is still throwing up, however it does not seem to be as much!   I don’t know if we have found what is wrong but I am feeling really great that the screaming has stopped and the constant rumbling her tummy was making.

The screaming has seemed to stop, however there are tears. From both Callie and myself. Stopping nursing has been so much harder than I imagined. She turns herself into me and looks at me with eyes full of tears, so then I of course join her in crying. I calmly tell her that my milk makes her sick (this pep talk is more for me) while watching her little lip puff out with heartbreak. Each bottle she takes from me gets a little easier for both of us. I have been saving my milk, however think that I will start dumping it Sad smile. Pyloric Stenosis or not (which I am not thinking it is not) there is some general food that I am consuming that Callie is allergic to. I will let the doctor know about our progress when she calls today with results and see where we go from here..

THANK YOU FOR PRAYING FOR US!

Update on Callie 7-11-12

Callie has had a rough start. For the past 5 and a half weeks she has nursed, slept for 20 minutes to an hour and a half periods, and *screamed*. I assumed that she was colic. She is not gaining weight every rapidly, every once is exciting, is not having bowel movements on her own, and is unable to keep things down. I understand that babies spit up, this is my third time at this. However, Callie will sit up and with her entire body throw everything she has just eaten up. We have started using kitchen towels as burp rags. We have been giving her a suppository once a week. After talking to the doctor it came up that we are not even seeing her push, as if trying to have a bowl movement and unable.

We have tried zantac, levsin drops and now Prilosec. Dr. Hund is concerned that we are no longer looking at simply acid reflex and colic.Since we are not seeing any improvement with these meds that I guess normally do help. I have went off of dairy and we supplementing (well kind of, I can’t seem to get her to take a bottle very well) her with Similac Alumentum which is dairy and soy free. Non of this has helped the throwing up and screaming.

Last week we were send for a sonogram of Callie’s tummy to see if things were opening and shutting correctly, and they are!

We saw Dr. Hund yesterday (Callie is now 5 weeks old) it was at this time that he let us know that he is concerned that we are looking at something more than colic. He told me that he wanted to send her for a berry enema. I asked him what he was looking for,and he said Hirshsprung's Disease. He does not think that she has full blown Hirshsprungs, he feels that she has a short segment of this, and if conformed this will need to be corrected with surgery.

After getting home yesterday Dr. Hund personally called us. He said that he felt more comfortable sending us to s pediatric GI specialist. Meaning that we are not doing the berry enema at this time, Praise the Lord!

I am praying that this is not what she has, and that perhaps there is another way for the specialist to treat her, so that she will start keeping things down. To be honest the past five weeks are a blur of screaming, which breaks my heart that she has been so uncomfortable.

“Let everything I say and do, let it be all for You, the Glory is Yours alone." Callie is not mine, she belongs to God and I have been entrusted to guide, love, and take care of her. I am trying to be as strong as I sound. No matter what we find out tomorrow, God is good all the time and has blessed me with an amazing support system. Please continue to join my family as we pray for my sweet little angel!

We are taking her newborn pictures on Saturday evening, I am very excited!! I know she isn’t quite newborn anymore, however she is only 5 ounces bigger then when she was born! Post pictures once we get them! (Always end on a happy note, that is what I feel my students parents!)
