About Me

Goddard, KS, United States
I am one of the fortunate few who married my very bestfriend! Brett and I started dating when I was a sophmore in highschool, and have been together ever since! So I don't know life without Brett in it, and I wouldn't want to. He has given me so many wonderful things over our 14 years together. However the most precious are our children. I am making this blog for them. One day hopefully they will be able to get some of the joy back they have given to me by reading this!

A Small Get-Away!

Last week was spring break.. it was also week 12 of my final semester before student teaching. Brett's parents had received two free suites at Argosy in Kansas City and invited us to go down with them, for my birthday. I was hesitant at first, because I have NEVER left my children for more than a few hours. Brett and I discussed it and decided that if Kelly, my sister, was able to come to our house and keep them that we would go. AND SHE DID! We left Wednesday morning and headed for Kansas City. It was "oddly-wonderful" to have three hours to talk with my husband, or should I say to talk TO my husband.

Our room was really nice. The bathroom had a walk-in/sit/down steamer/shower! Brett and I are not much into the casino (prior to this vacation I hadn't ever been in one) but being that I am a people watcher it did make for entertainment. (people-watching may be the biggest pet-peeve Brett has with me, I am trying to break this habit). On Thursday Brett and I spent the day at Legends, shopping, walking, talking and eating! =) After leaving Legends we went to Cabela's. This was more for Brett then myself, but he did just go through several (or more) stores with me! =)

I let Brett talk me into going to the casino with him and his parents at 2 in the morning on Friday!! That would be the far left picture! *crazy* I get up with a child at that time at least once a week, can't believe I did it on vacation!!

Friday we grabbed a bit to eat at the T-Rex cafe with my In-Laws and headed home. I missed my babies SOOO MUCH! (I only cried one time when we were gone) It was so great to spend some time with Brett, we haven't laughed with one another in awhile!

We will definitely go to Kansas City Legends again, but next time I will take my babies!!

I'm Done!!

Twelve Weeks I have:
• Read (almost completely) five educational textbooks
• Written 32 papers
• Completed 28 Educational Case Studies
• Created an online portfolio http://kdykeportfolio.weebly.com/
• Kept two children, two dogs and a husband fed, clothed and alive =)
• Put on 15 pounds ;’( -yes I noticed- sadly late night homework was normally accompanied by a box or bowl of something

I almost quite!! If my mom had not talked me out of it about week 10 of this semester, I would have! I am so thankful that I did not, but I am even more THANKFUL that it is over. No more choosing which to do first, housework or homework. No more feeling guilty because I told Cadie I would not rock her, because I had too much homework to complete. No more 1 and 2 o’clock nights munching on anything to stay awake. It is time for me to get back to “normal”!! A cleaner house, weight watchers (Love this program and it works!), getting in a full workout (instead of hoping to do it when homework is done, and then falling asleep) and the part I am the most excited about… going to bed when my husband does ;)

God of wonders

120_1173120_1165

Last night we took the kids out to jump on the trampoline, in the dark. Curtis has been asking us ever since we put it up if he could jump in the dark.. I am not to embarrassed to admit that Mommy was the one saying NO, Yes I am scared of the dark. (and most everything that moves Winking smile ) 120_1170120_1181

We jumped, we played crack-the-egg, we played “I’m thinking of a dinosaur”, but my absolute favorite family memory (thus far, probably) was when we all laid and looked at the stars.. Of course Brett went into a scientific explanation of what they were, and approximately how far away from us they are (I married a very smart man).120_1201

I wish the stars had shown up in my picture! They were millions of stars out last night It was when Brett started talking about galaxy's that Curtis broke out in son.. “God of Wonders Beyond Our Galaxy, You are Holy, Holy”

Christmas in March..

For Christmas Curtis and Cadence received a new swing-set/fort and a trampoline. Brett’s parents got them a the new swing-set/fort and my parents gave them a trampoline. It has been tough to see them sitting in the box for three months. Saturday it was finally nice enough outside to set up the trampoline. (the fort says it will require 48 man hours, we will be calling in help for that project)

*but before the trampoline was put up Cadie and Curtis got an added bonus, Brett made them a tire-swing*

120_1078Then Cadie found the mud, so we had to go and change her clothes!! She is always one step behind her brother!!
