About Me

My photo
Goddard, KS, United States
I am one of the fortunate few who married my very bestfriend! Brett and I started dating when I was a sophmore in highschool, and have been together ever since! So I don't know life without Brett in it, and I wouldn't want to. He has given me so many wonderful things over our 14 years together. However the most precious are our children. I am making this blog for them. One day hopefully they will be able to get some of the joy back they have given to me by reading this!

Vacation Day TWO

CAUTION: EVEN MORE PICTURES THEN DAY ONE =)
The plan for Monday was to go to the children's museum so that Cindy, Cadie and I could tour the Barbie exhibit.. I was super exited!
Upon arriving we found out that the museum was closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, no Barbies for us ;(
Plan B: The Kansas City Zoo
Cadence and Curtis
Cadie wouldn't go anywhere near the polar bear statue, after the dinosaurs yesterday she had no use for this!

Watching the Polar Bear show!

This was the highlight of the Zoo

For everyone!

Vacation Day ONE

WARNING: LOTS OF PICTURES
On Sunday we met up with Brett's parents and headed for Kansas City, MO for a few days!
A VERY much needed get away!
Brett and I realized that this is the first time we have went on vacation in the 6 1/2 years we've been married... So much fun doing it as parents!!
We arrived at Union Station around noon on Sunday. This was the entire reason for our trip =) To see the DINOSAURS!! Curtis was pumped!!... Cadence "thought" she was...
Prior to purchasing our tickets and heading downstairs we caught a preview of the excitement to come. Cadence liked it, until it MOVED! She was not amused by this at all!
Digging for fossils was alright..

This would be when we lost Cadie... Upon reaching the BIG and I do mean BIG Dinosaurs Cadence was very afraid. So she and I went back out the entrance and waited on everyone else to finish looking! (I am not relying on Brett for pictures of Curtis =))

This shows just how BIG they were!!
After we where done seeing the dinosaurs it was time for the second highlight of the day..
Building a Dino!
Curtis of course picked a T-Rex -which he named Rexy-

Cadence picked "a pink one" - which she named Pink-
*yes her Dino's name is Pink Dyke, my Mother-in-law and I found this rather humours*

I was now time to sit and wait for our 3D Dinosaur movie to start, and pray Cadie would sit through it...

Well she didn't like the move either, but I was able to stand and rock in the back of the theater and she fell asleep =)

Next it was time to go downstairs and see all of the trains

**
Then we went across to the Science Museum
(this was actually my favorite part)
Curtis and Cadie playing the floor piano

Curtis loves the drums, and I foresee a drummer in our home one day.
As he's drumming away he says, "Do I look cool like that guy at church?" I just laughed and told him he was just as cool as Greg =)

This was an inside Tree House, which the kids LOVED!

Next we walked across a LONG bridge to stacks to eat BBQ
We had a *wonderful day* at Union Station

For children who have NEVER slept in a hotel room, they didn't pretty good!

(well I guess they did, but they can neither one remember it)

Preschool

This morning was Curtis' first day at Preschool... Kind of!
Today for an hour, the kids brought their parents with them and they were able to see the room and meet their teachers and classmates. We are SOO short staffed at work that I wasn't able to stay for the entire time, but at least I got to go =)
Curtis is so excited that "little Kailen" is in his class!
(he has two cousins named Kailen)
Curtis was VERY EXCITED to find out that they had magnify glasses there. He told his teachers that his Papa Terry had a magnify glass! (and then went into a long story about his Papa)

Great Morning! Curtis loved it, and is super excited to go back (I have a feeling he is going to be my "easy" child when it comes to being left at school). Luckily John and Jessica where there and able to bring Curtis back to my mom.
**
See I was able to blog about Curt going to Preschool without getting emotional...
However we haven't had his 'official' first day yet... That isn't until Sept.7, which also happens to be his 4th Birthday!

Round Two (Final Round)

I HOPE!!...
Yesterday I took Cadence in for her hard cast. We went out to the East Office so that Dr. Hund would be able to do it this time. I *love* this doctor!! He did a wonderful job and was done before we knew it. Cadie did of course scream and cry, but there was very little physical fight this time. I asked Dr. Hund if I should be worried about soft bones, or if we just had bad luck?! Without hesitation he said, "Bad Luck" However he did say that when we go back in three weeks to have it removed that he would check her bone density when we x-ray again.
She has done a phenomenal job with this one. I think it's because it is her left had this time.
This cast seems a lot more functional! It doesn't come up as far on her forearm or her thumb!

Just love love love being Curtis and Cadies Mommy!!

She did it AGAIN!!

It is now 12:30 a.m on Friday morning, and we have been home about 30 minutes. While at Bunco group this evening Brett called me and said that he thought Cadie might have broken her OTHER arm, and he was debating on taking her to the Emergency Room. I told him not to take her anywhere without me and I would come home. Poor Jessica carpooled with me so she wasn't able to stay for Bunco! When I got home she was still very upset and wouldn't do anything with that arm. I decided to take her and give her a bath, which is a preferred so I thought this would change her mood. No such luck, in fact it seemed to make her more upset. After watching her I decided to go ahead and take her to the ER (which if you know me is a BIG NO NO FOR ME I REALLY REALLY REALLY DISLIKE THE ER). After 3 1/2 hours at the ER we found out that she had in fact done it again!!! The same type of break but on the left arm this time instead of the right. I am not embarrassed to say that this time I did cry. I can't believe that I have to do this to her again. I was actually sick to my stomach. I had just commented that our Cadie was back, and now another cast. So for now she is in a soft cast and we will go in on Monday to have Dr. Hund put on her hard cast. I just hate holding her down while she is screaming, but I would rather do it than a complete stranger.. she is scared enough! I will be doing a long term subbing in Maize for one of the structured learning teachers starting her very soon, and am not sure how it will work out when it is time for the cast to be removed?!?! Do they get a substitute teacher for a substitute teacher?!?! I guess these aren't things I need to worry with right now (however if you know me, you know I will). My babies are asleep, my house is a mess, my homework isn't done, I'm tired But God is Good.. on that note I'm going to sleep until 6:00 when I will get up and do it all over again.. Thank Heavens it's Friday!!

P90X

Brett and I started the P90X routine this week, and we are having a Blast!

Each workout is around an hour, and we have been doing them after we put the kids in bed.

I have really enjoyed the "us" time, and since we are both SO COMPETITIVE it's been a lot of fun! It's fun to see which one of us can do just one more push-up (Brett) or one more squats (Me)! We are excited to see some results by the time Kelly's wedding is here, that will make our 90 days! The other day we attempted to do it with the kids awake, and while we had to end up doing it later without them it was too cute to watch them try!!

I mean seriously what is cutter then a 20 month old doing squats =)

Or lunges?!?! =)
