*Just a Para!*

This is how I was referred to today by my supervisor. Not sure why I have let a simple sentence bother me all day to the point of tears and hurt my feelings. The more I have thought about it I've decided she's right.. for one more year until I graduate..

Is this where I thought I'd be at age 26? No not really, however I am content with who I am and what I do.
And most importantly I am just a para who is Saved... My favorite song "Walk on Water" by Britt Nicole
**"Faith is all it takes and you can walk on the water too"**
Most of the time my tank is empty and my arms are full BUT I am a lot stronger then I ever imagined possible.. So for today I will have a heavy heart; that someone views me as "Just a Para", and maybe go get my toes done (wink wink Pam) and then tomorrow I will hold my head high because being a para has helped shape me into the teacher that I want to be.
I'm very proud of who you are, and where you're going! You will make an awesome teacher, because you are already an awesome Para/mommy/dishwasher/laundromat/etc... =)
ReplyDeleteIt's funny, I was just saying the other day that 10 years ago there were a lot of things that I planned for and imagined differently, I suppose I'll be saying the same thing in another 10. Who knew life would be such an adventure?! Isn't it crazy, that one word 'just' can change our perception so much? You may be 'just' a para, but your the best para I've ever met, and you can find more meaning in being a good para then a lot of teachers can find in being a teacher. A wise man I knew once said that you don't have to do something in life like become a world renowned surgeon, you could 'just' be a ditch digger as long as you gave it your all to be the best ditch digger you could be! This is another one of the many chapters in your life, so enjoy being a 'just' para, a great one, soon this time will be a memory that you look'll back on and say "Remember when..." Try to loosen your grip on the load you cary, (I know, easier said then done) and don't get too bogged down with every day things.
ReplyDeleteOh, and my toes have been calling for help for a long time, maybe they can call yours and get together to do something about it;-)
You're so much more than 'just' a para. Don't let what anyone says of your profession define who YOU ARE. You listed great qualities--and they're are all very true.
ReplyDeleteI told you that God knows your needs and He WILL provide, and I have seen it time and again. Relax, trust Him and it will work out. Always does.
I'll keep praying for you as you walk this journey and see what comes next...what an exciting adventure--God always has more going on than we can ever imagine!
As has already so eloquently been said, you are SO MUCH MORE than 'just a para'. You are a child of God who loves and serves her husband, children, family, and friends all while doing an awesome job being a para/mentor/LIGHT for those you work for and with. I had some similar experiences with the 'just' word at work in the past. It is hard to not focus on the one negative thing said even when you (and others) know how much good you provide. Swing by my blog and read "Starfish", becasue I think it fits you perfectly too. We can't change 'em all, but we can be faithful to be God's hands where He has placed us and that makes all the difference. One life at a time, we may never know the implications of our actions, but if we are serving God through our actions, He will use it all for His glory. ((BIG HUGS))
ReplyDeleteOh, and I like pedicures too!! Maybe we should have a Fellowship Night of Pedicures...NO BOYS though! Ewwww! :)
